I was born in South Carolina where I attended the public schools of that state. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in Alabama with a B.A. I received a master's degree in History and English from Kansas State
University. As for work history, most of my work was in education. During the Vietnam War I was a junior high teacher of military dependents at
schools just outside the Fort Riley Army Base for five years. From there I went to the University of Nebraska and worked on a PhD in History and Education. I was a writer and editor for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
for approximately 10 years and I was the social studies coordinator for the Nebraska Department of Education from 1976 until 1986. Since that time I have been involved in the sale of real estate in Taos, New Mexico with about three years off in the 1980's to acquaint myself with my new home. I am married and have three married children with children. One of my
granddaughters is a graduate from Huntsville State University in Texas.
On the personal level, my interests aside from my family are my dogs and cats, mostly stray animals and gardening.
In the public arena, I have been on most committees in Taos that have to do with the arts. The visual arts are my primary passion outside of my home life. Currently, a friend and I have been producing the show, Rio Grande
Nights, each year. It is a musical and awards show. It is associated with the awards for the Fall Arts Festival which has been held for the last 31 years. I am also on that committee and devote countless hours to help make it a success. Personal hobbies aside from the animals, and the gardening have to do with writing and reading. I read numerous magazines and usually am reading a novel. I like to write poetry, personal reminiscences, and my real estate ads for newspaper and radio.
Like most people my age, I take my work, which is listing and selling real estate, extremely seriously. I advertise extensively and counsel with my clients constantly about how to sell their property or to find them just the right property. I enjoy what I do, and expect to do it for many more years to come.
